Elizabeth Marget Pratt (Betty) was born September 10, 1917 and passed away on May 28, 2013. Betty was a long time resident of Alexandria. Betty has fought the good fight and kept the faith. She has finished her race and now is with her Savior in Glory! Mrs. Pratt was born in Washington DC to Jesse Edward Zea and Marget Elizabeth Zea. Betty was a 70 plus year member of the First Christian Church of Alexandria, Va. She served in many ministries, ACTS, Meals on Wheels, ALIVE and had also taught Sunday school for the youngest of the Saints. Betty was a cornerstone for the after church coffee socials every Sunday as well as dinners and breakfasts held at the church. Her love for the children was also her vocation. Betty served proudly for over 51 years with the Alexandria Police Department as a crossing guard and has worked at every school in the City earning several awards and commendations. Mrs. Pratt was widowed in 1965 after 35 years of Marriage and never remarried. She was also predeceased by her youngest son James Lawrence Pratt. Betty also ran a small catering business for many years, her cakes especially her wedding cakes were much in demand.
In her last years Grand Ma, "Gi-Gi" was cared for by her granddaughter, Theresa Harris Kruszewski and her family in the mountains of Greene County, Virginia. Betty leaves three children to mourn her passing Frank Pratt Jr. (Peggy), Robert Edward Pratt Sr. (Cheryl) and Helen Susan Williams in addition to 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
