Tribute & Message From The Family


Barton Edward Croll, age 80 of Sand Creek, formerly of Pennsylvania, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at his home. He was born April 8, 1936, in Quakake, PA, to Percy Harrison and Verna Viola (Hons) Croll. On October 11, 1958, he married Ida Frey at Christ Church in Barnesville, Pa and she survives.
Barton was the first driver to achieve 1 million accident free miles at Bachman Bakeries. He owned and operated John's Mower Service in Bernville, PA. Later he worked for Erlich Chemical in Reading, PA, and in 2001, he retired from Competition Tire West in Brooklyn, MI.
Barton was a member of the United Church of Christ of Gouglersville, PA and the Weston United Methodist Church in Weston, MI. He was a 25 year member of the Chandler Lodge #227 and the Scottish Rite both in Reading, PA.
Bart loved life, he dearly loved his family and grand puppy, Winston. He loved photography, camping and the outdoors.
In addition to his loving wife of 57 years, Ida, he is survived by a son, Allen (Cindy) Croll of Sand Creek; a daughter, Anita Stum of Kutztown, PA; one sister Wilma Strunk of Reading, PA; four grandchildren, Vanessa Croll of Warsaw, IN, Alexander Croll of Sand Creek, MI, Jennifer Stum of Barto, PA and Kristine Stum of Kutztown, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Junior Croll.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Lenawee, Fairfield Twp. Fire and Ambulance crew and the Madison Twp. EMT Staff for their care.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in his honor at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at the Weston United Methodist Church with Pastor Donna Galloway officiating.
