Obituary

Robert E. "Bob" Freeman was born in Auburn, Indiana on March 11, 1932. He was the son of Theo and Ruth (Weidler) Freeman.
Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. On January 26, 1957, Bob married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Wright in Monroe, Michigan.
Bob, also known as, "Bullet" the fastest parts man east of Chicago, was a very well-known and respected figure in the Ford parts business in the five county area. He started his Ford parts career with Palmer Ford of Chelsea but shortly after, he went to work for Henderson Ford of Ann Arbor. Here he served different positions until he was promoted as the Parts Manager. He was employed with Henderson Ford for 17 years until they closed in 1980. A few months later when Henderson Ford became Varsity Ford of Ann Arbor, the new owner had learned of Bob's great wealth of knowledge and his ability to serve his customers with such speed that he was hired back to his position. Bob went on to serve as the Parts Manager for over 20 years at Varsity Ford before retiring in 2000.
Bob had a love for sports and everything University of Michigan, especially the football team. Bob was always up for a friendly argument over why Michigan was better than Michigan State. He was a season ticket holder of several sports for many years and always enjoyed sharing his seats with his family and friends.
When it came to having a conversation with Bob, he loved talking to everyone, and you could say he never met a stranger. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #0396 in Garden City and the Elks of Ann Arbor where he would share many stories with everyone.
His passing was preceded by his parents.
To cherish his memory, Bob leaves his wife, Mary Ellen of Saline; three sons, Gary (Margo) Freeman of Saline, Robert Freeman of Milan, David (Lori) Freeman of Manchester; two daughters, Vickie McLeod of Grass Lake, Tina (Tim) Watson of Hillsdale; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
At Bob's request, cremation has taken place. Friends may gather at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Sharon United Methodist Church Hall, located at 19980 W. Pleasant Lake Rd., Manchester, Michigan where a memorial service will be held with a luncheon after.
